Aviary and Multi-Tier Systems

In recent months, SKA have introduced both laying and rearing aviaries, developed in their facilities in Italy where they have been studying, designing and manufacturing top quality equipment to improve, automate and generally advance poultry and egg production methods for well over 50 years.

Each version is fully equipped with the required feeding, watering, perching and manure removal facilities.

For layers, the product name is ‘Libra Combi', and the aviary incorporates nesting areas, sloping floors and automatic egg collection, and provides an effective stocking density of up to18 birds per square metre of the useable floor area of the building.

On both the laying and the ‘Gemini' rearing aviary, external perch rails make it easy for birds to move freely between the tiers, so that they can drink from the nipple and cup drinkers, eat from the chain feeders, access the scratching areas on the floor underneath and between the rows of structures in the daytime, and the internal perches on each level at night.

The aviaries have feed, water, perches, and in the laying version, nests on every level.

Droppings from the feeding, watering and perching areas are removed regularly by the polypropylene belts below each galvanized wire floor, significantly reducing ammonia levels and generally improving the atmosphere for birds and people within the building, and saving a great deal of time and effort when preparing for the next flock.

The more interesting environment presented by the different levels provides a more active and stimulating experience for birds throughout the rearing and laying periods.

To compliment the aviaries, SKA are also able to provide multi tier structures, featuring their polypropylene slat floors with manure belts beneath, on two levels, which can have feeders, drinkers and perches as required, and be used to compliment the existing nests and slats in laying houses to create additional useable floor space and increase the capacity of the building, or to give pullets reared for aviary laying accommodation experience to adapt immediately to their new environment.
